2010 Subscriptions

Due on or before the 31 January 2010

The National Beekeepers Association (NBA) subscriptions run on a calendar year 1 January to 31 December.

Your Executive Council thanks all members who have been involved in sub-committees and, or, have worked long unpaid hours to stop the importation of honey from Australia, ensure that there is not another Tutin poisoning this season, contributed to continued research and the many other activities carried out behind the scenes to ensure beekeeping in New Zealand not only survives but continues to grow as an economic and prosperous industry. The NBA values your continued membership to enable us to work together for the betterment of beekeeping in New Zealand.

Membership entitles you to:

• A voice in the Association (members’ input is very important)

• Branch membership and information sharing

• Access to NBA library

• Access to the members-only section of the website www.nba.org.nz

• Invitation to attend annual conference at preferred rate: 2010 conference will be held 27 to 30 June in Nelson

• Receive 11 issues of The New Zealand Beekeeper.

You will see that on the membership form we ask you for the number of beekeepers working for your organisation so that when we lobby Government etc on your behalf we can give a more accurate record of the number of beekeepers we are representing.

When completing the attached membership form please ensure that you include your postcode as it is now a NZ Post requirement.

The e-mail address you put on the form is the one we will use for your access to the NBA members’ section of the website.

You will find a list of current research categories on the attached renewal form. This is to allow you to contribute funding into the research area of your choice. If you are happy for your research donation to be used in the area most needed, please fill in the amount headed General Research.

As you will be aware, the NBA is currently reviewing its research priorities and processes for allocating funding. We hope to conduct further consulting with members on this in the new year.

We also hope to release the findings of the NBA member and non-member surveys early 2010. We have been overwhelmed by the response and constructive feedback from all participants.

While the survey has ended, please keep telling us what you think about the NBA. If you have feedback or a concern regarding any NBA issue, we want to hear about it.

While we are available for urgent requests out of hours, our office hours are generally between 8.30am and 5.00pm. If we are not available please leave a message or send an email and we will respond as soon as we can. We are here for our members.

Finally please join the NBA and please encourage anyone who is not currently a member of the NBA to join and receive the benefits that it offers while helping beekeeping to advance in New Zealand.

Please remember that while joining the NBA is voluntary, once you have decided to join you are expected to join at the correct rate. If you are having a problem paying your subscription in one payment you can pay in instalments. Please do not hesitate to contact us so we can make confidential arrangements.
