Setting a NZ honey standard for monofloral varieties of table honey

Please note: All submissions must be received no later than 5pm on Friday 3 July 2009.

Consultation on the New Zealand honey standard for monofloral varieties of table honey has begun. The consultation document has been mailed to all Branch Presidents and Secretaries, Executive Members, RMP holders, members of the Honey Packers Association and Beekeeping Clubs. Submissions are being called from all interested parties on any aspect of the draft standard for monofloral varieties of table honey. In particular submissions are sought on:

• the use of appearance, pollen and organoleptic criteria as principles for differentiating floral varieties, and

• the suitability of the range of values used for each floral type. The consultation paper on the draft standard, and a submission form, are available as electronic and hard copies from:
